The fact that Derry has been selected as the location to implement the Northern Ireland Broadband Flagship Project is a reflection not only of the expertise that has been developed by each of the project partners but also evidence of the important contribution that public and private bodies across the North West can offer. Intelligent Systems logo
The Intelligent Systems Engineering Laboratory (ISEL) is a research group within the Faculty of Engineering, on the Magee campus of the University of Ulster, N. Ireland. ISEL embraces the topic of intelligent systems in the widest sense; the activities of the group encompass research into a range of intelligent and hybrid technologies, and include work on neural networks, fuzzy systems, genetic / evolutionary algorithms, hybrid intelligent systems, reasoning, multiple valued logic and model predictive control. ERNACT logo
ERNACT: Derry City and Donegal County Councils established ERNACT EEIG (European Economic Interest Grouping) in 1990 as a joint cross border subsidiary of both local authorities. Its objectives were to enable both council areas to co-operate on the theme of communications technology and the emerging information society. Since then ERNACT has evolved into a network of regions comprising the City of Aalborg (DK), South West Flanders (B), Province of Zeeland (NL), Metropolitan Borough of Wirral (UK) and City of Derry, County Donegal and County Galway (IRL). NORIBIC, the Northern Ireland Business and Innovation Centre, has received funding from the EU Interreg IIIa programme to provide a unique single sector business incubator. ICE Cube - Interactive Computer Entertainment Incubator - will encourage potential entrepreneurs with a background in games-specific software engineering to develop their business ideas within a fully supported high-tech environment. The first of its kind on the island of Ireland, ICE Cube provides technical and graphic design support and mentoring to the entrepreneurs, utilising state-of-the-art high-end computing hardware and, uniquely, a highly advanced games engine supplied by Torc Interactive, a world-leading games engine developer based in the North West.
